Frequently asked questions
- How do I start a table?
- On the setup screen, type your character name (or tap one of the suggestions), pick a class and stat modifiers if you want, then choose "Start a new table". You'll get a 5-character room code.
- How do my friends join?
- Share your 5-character room code. They enter their own character, choose "Join a table", and type the code. Everyone with the code sees the same rolls.
- Do I need an account?
- No. There are no logins, sign-ups, or passwords. The room code is the only key to a table.
- Why don't I see my friend's roll?
- The table log refreshes every few seconds. Make sure everyone typed the exact same room code (letters are not case-sensitive) and has a working internet connection.
- How does the modifier work?
- Pick a stat from the modifier dropdown before rolling. The app adds that stat's saved modifier to your raw roll and shows both the raw number and the total.
- What do the tiers mean?
- Every roll is labeled Natural 1, Low, Medium, High, or Max Roll based on the die you rolled. Low means the attempt failed, Medium is an "eh, maybe", and High or Max Roll is a success.
- Can I edit the flavor lines?
- No. Flavor lines come from a fixed, family-friendly, built-in set so every table sees the same age-appropriate humor.
- Can I mark someone as the Dungeon Master?
- Yes. Check "I'm the DM" on the setup screen. A DM's stat modifiers stay hidden from the rest of the party roster.
- Can I delete a table's data?
- Yes — email us the room code and we'll remove it.
Tips for game night
- Keep the app open during play; the screen stays awake so you don't lose your place.
- If a roll seems stuck, pull down to refresh or reopen the app — your character is saved on your device.
- Only share your room code with people you want at your table.
- Playing on a phone? Add Tavern Table to your home screen for a full-screen experience.
